STONEHENGE: SUMMER SOLSTICE

“Stonehenge: Summer Solstice" is the latest piece to emerge from the Earth Art Series.  It is cast lead crystal (3 colors also), and Carrera Marble (base).  On our various travels throughout our life, we have visited the Stonehenge site many times.  I always came away awed by the sites’s scale, sense of power, and enduring timelessness. Hopefully you can see the multi-colored sun setting over the heal stone in the exterior form -- from both front and back.

One new feature of this piece is that in addition to the exterior/interior sculptural form itself, I am also working with the base surface of the casting -- in this case there is a complete site map of Stonehenge incorporated and integrated into both the Carrera marble base and molded into the bottom surface of the glass casting itself.  This detail is quite visible when inspecting the piece.  It gives a narrative to the piece that adds to the sculptural form -- at least I think so!
